An apolgy and menu planning lesson #2

First off, I am so sorry that it has taken me this long to find my way back here. First, I was hit by a severe case of strep throat, then my dd, then my DH. Then on top of all of that, my RA (Rheumatoid Arthritis) kicked in and I have been in a flare for 2 weeks. These flares make it almost impossible for me to do anything except sleep. I am lucky that I have a husband who will pick up the majority of the slack around here when things go bad for me.

So, since things are mostly normal for me now, lets get back to normal around here.

Last post, I had you write out all of the meals that your family eats. I do hope that you still have that list. If not, just rewrite it.

Now that you have your list, here is what you are going to do.

Sit down, either with your family or without (my family prefers that I just do it and not include them.) Working from the list of meals you made, pick out 7 that you want to eat for dinner this week. One thing that I do is that once a week, I don’t plan a meal. Those are the nights that we eat leftovers. We call it YOYO night (you’re on your own). This makes it so that most of the leftovers get used and also gives me a break once a week. A night where I don’t have to cook.

When you are planning your menu, try and make use of things you already have. This means that if you have 3 jars of pasta sauce, maybe adding lasagna or spaghetti to the menu that week. If you have chili fixings already in the cupboard, then have chili that week (unless it’s like 90 degrees out…lol.)

I don’t plan breakfast and lunch, but I know people that do. It’s entirely up to you if you choose to.
Lesson #3 (the final one) tomorrow. I hope you all are enjoying this! It’s honestly a really easy way to save money on groceries!
